Mestre Nem

Wellington Leandro de Freitas was born on March 22, 1967. He started practicing Capoeira in 1977 under the guidance of Mestre Reinaldo in the group Morro de Santana. Since 1993 he has lived in Germany, where he works to promote Capoeira in Europe.
A good capoeirista is not the one who comes to the roda, plays, strikes, fights. A good capoeirsta is the one who knows how to treat everyone with respect. Whatever roda he goes to play, he knows how to enter, play instruments, sings, plays skillfully. He has knowledge and awareness. A capoeirista is never perfect, because capoeira requires constant learning. There is always something new, something that inspires and develops.
Mestre Nem regularly conducts classes in Hamburg, organizes workshops and trainings of Capoeira Regional, Capoeira Angola (traditional form of Capoeira) and Maculelé (Afro-Brazilian dance with the use of sticks or machetes) throughout Europe (in Poland in cities such as: Katowice, Wrocław , Gdynia, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Kraków, Tychy, Częstochowa, Sosnowiec, Pruszków, Olkusz and others). He also supervises the work of all alunos teaching outside Brazil. His students teaching classes in Poland were distinguished and received the first prize at the worldwide group presentation at Summer Meeting 2000 in Hamburg, which was described in detail in the Brazilian magazine devoted to Capoeira "Revista Capoeira".
Respect is the most important thing. Respect for Mestre, for your teacher and for every co-trainer as a person and as a capoeirista. Try to learn from each other but also meet new groups, new people, make friends, but also pay attention to falsehood in the world of capoeira. This is the advice for my alunos.
