Mestre Camisa was born in the interior of the state of Bahia, in the northeast of Brazil. He first began practicing and studying Capoeira at the age of seven. He was taught by his older brother Camisa Roxa, a student of Mestre Bimba. Several years later Camisa moved to Salvador to continue his education and attended Mestre Bimba's Academy himself....

Wellington Leandro de Freitas was born on March 22, 1967. He started practicing Capoeira in 1977 under the guidance of Mestre Reinaldo in the group Morro de Santana. Since 1993 he has lived in Germany, where he works to promote Capoeira in Europe.
